Sourcing Strategies in Retail

Apparel Magazine wrote an article this month which covers some important strategies within this vertical. The article discusses the many benefits of technology for PLM, LCCS benefits, and having the right outlook when it comes to working with companies not countries. For a really good and deep PLM software platform, look to UGS — one of the leaders.
The fifth item covered discusses having the right technology in place. The same challenges seen by all companies are mentioned to end the article:
Implementing enterprise-wide solutions is a huge undertaking, and you’ll need “buy in” from the executive office as well as the users. Make training a priority, and understand that change is difficult.
This is very true and one of the reasons why SaaS is so compelling for retailers and most companies, in general. Getting benefit right away, without huge technical obstacles, is very important since there are many issues to resolve when undertaking a new software platform — no matter how great it is.
