Mmmm…Tryptophan
November 22nd, 2006 at 07:29am David Bush - Iasta
I will be taking a few days off from blogging and doing the normal Thanksgiving holiday weekend checklist. This would include eating too much, driving too much, watching football and, ultimately, being thankful that the weekend is over.
That being said, I thought I would recall some things I am thankful for:
- I am thankful not all companies are lemmings and are willing to make what they feel is the best decision, not the safest.
- I am thankful for FreeMarkets getting acquired and training so many good people so well. Iasta has directly benefited time and again.
- I am thankful that we never took other people’s money and still call all the shots with no pressure from less than desirable forces.
- I am thankful for Tim Minahan - Supply Excellence refusing to acknowledge our existence, thus validating our position as a competitor.
- I am thankful that I do not know either TomKat or Brangelina (how many people are they?).
- I am thankful for the end of the Mike Davis era and the Return to Glory of IU Basketball.
- I am thankful that good beer started becoming available at the same time that I could afford it.
In all seriousness, I hope everyone has much to be thankful for and especially for our armed services that make all of this silliness possible.

David:
Just turned on my RSS feed to the e-Sourcing Forum. Great posts. The volume is incredible. (Don’t you have a day job?) And I am impressed that you’ve elected to balance your share of software market commentary with supply management best practices.
Anyway, I came across your thankful list. (Who knew you were so funny?!?) I did note that item four on thankful list is not entirely accurate. (And I’ll let the personal dig slide…on Thanksgiving no less.
Correction: I mentioned you by name in the following post: http://supplyexcellence.com/blog/2006/08/29/whats-next-according-to-busch-supply-skills-networks/
Hey, I’m glad you’re as vociferous as you are. Even as an analyst, I always said that supply management solution vendors were a wealth of knowledge. Not only are you (I guess we now) in the trenches, knowing what really works and what doesn’t, but we’re also privvy to what’s next. Of course, despite their value, vendor opinions (now even my own) should be taken with a grain of salt.
Keep up the great work. And the sense of humor.

Hi Tim,
Thanks for checking in and having a good sense of humor, all in good in fun…
I agree with you on all fronts, as usual, and look forward to seeing what happens in this industry. There is no shortage of smart people, ideas, development, and of course, controversy.
I am glad you will be checking in with ESF, too! I dont have the personal connections that you do, but I have plenty of opinions and never claim to be right about anything, I just happen to have a microphone. You know what they say about give any idiot a mic…and opinions are like…oops, almost time for football and the Patroits still suck ;).
