Ketera - Hyperion Announcement
February 1st, 2007 at 02:22am David Bush - Iasta
Yesterday, Ketera made an announcement regarding a new partnership with Hyperion to provide on-demand business intelligence capability in its spend management suite. This alliance should come as no surprise to those paying attention since Burton Goldfield was formerly in executive management at Hyperion before taking the reins at Ketera. I would be surprised if this was not brewing while he was on his way out the door or on Day 1 in Santa Clara.
“This will be a significant breakthrough and milestone for the SaaS movement,” said Burton M. Goldfield, CEO, Ketera Technologies. “One of the criticisms of SaaS solutions has been their lack of enterprise-class integration with solutions behind the corporate firewall. We are enthusiastic about this new partnership with Hyperion as it will allow two enterprise-class solutions, one delivered on demand and the other installed behind the firewall, to be tightly integrated and provide more meaningful financial and operational metrics to CFOs in real-time.”
I know Burton personally, speak to him some what regularly, and really like him. Ignoring the press speak here, I think he is making some really strong moves for Ketera to be a major player in spend management and has a refreshing vision and pragmatism that I respect. I find this particular deal to be very interesting and look forward to really tracking its progress and success. It has the capability to create nice cross-selling opportunties between the products and creates a new dynamic in this space for users to consider when making decisions on how to best maximize their ERP investment with supplemental applications. It also speaks volumes that one of the clear leaders in BI technology is also a proponent in spend/supply management and SaaS technologies.
