ISM - Day 2: The hits keep on coming

May 8th, 2007 at 10:01am David Bush - Iasta

No question about it, the highlight of my day was spending over 30 minutes of quality face time with Pierre Mitchell. Easily the most entertaining and outgoing procurement guru I have ever met, Pierre educated me on topics spanning all things supply chain, and in the process made it all seem somewhat interesting and fun. Maybe it was Vegas coursing through my veins, but I felt as though I should tip him a ten spot for merely being in his presence and having a front row seat at the “Pierre Mitchell Experience”.

I am also happy to report that Iasta is officially part of the cool kid clique. I guess we have paid our dues long enough to know about everyone on the block and we are now getting some long deserved love at these events. I very much appreciate the fact that so many practitioners and vendors proactively seek us out . I also have no doubt that conversations had today will materialize into significant business over the next few quarters.

As I mentioned yesterday, the blogging community is pretty well represented here and late Monday, Jason Busch arrived like the Beatles during the British Invasion. I practically had to elbow my way through groupies to get to him once I spotted his locale. Fortunately, he still pretends to know me at this point but my days might be numbered.

Speaking to a large number of attendees and exhibitors today, the overwhelming sentiment is that this location has brought out the best in the ISM conference. I have personally had so much to do that I have not even sniffed the workshop area. A personal highlight of Monday occurred when I was having lunch with the CEO of another very high profile procurement technology company and “Kate” from the ABC show “Lost” was sitting 5 feet away getting sushi to go. I think she even smiled at me…very cool.

Tuesday is generally a draw down day with less action and lower intensity. However, so far, I have no complaints am looking forward to seeing other people’s impressions of the event.
