Will Vietnam emerge?

June 11th, 2007 at 02:55pm David Bush - Iasta

The last few months, I have had a number of posts on both sides of the LCCS issue, like this one on China Sourcing. TCS (The Cynical Sourcer) sent me these links about sourcing from Vietnam and some of the issues which still confront emerging countries. It seems to me that an entire country losing Internet connectivity due to fiber optic thievery could cause problems with keeping the supply chain efficient. Maybe the worst side-effect of having over 500 tons of cable pilfered…While Vietnam’s international internet links have long suffered from a lack of bandwidth, local bloggers have been complaining of particularly poor connections in recent weeks, possibly as a result of the missing cables.

If the bloggers are effected, there will be serious trouble!
