Software bugs are universal

Add comment October 5th, 2007 David Bush - Iasta

As most people in the software industry like to say, “Its not a bug, its an enhancement.”, sometimes there really are bugs. Take this case which recently popped up in Microsoft Excel. It seems that either this is a bug in a software package that has worked since 1993 or math has changed for the first time since the Big Bang and Physics were created.

So, I guess it happens to even the best of them, which is certainly relatively speaking. Ask Spend Matters Editor, Jason Busch about his feelings of Microsoft and you will be sure to get an ear full. To be perfectly honest, 80% of any malfunctions in our software are typically caused by 3rd party software that suddenly stops working because of “critical updates” or “service packs” to use very general terms. I guess I could look at the bright side and how much fun it is to watch when the updates go live to see what blows up. Remember in WarGames when everyone in NORAD was waiting for impact to see if the 300 airborne nukes were real or not? Its kind of like that.
