Hi,

Nothing great about the framework. This is followed in matured organizations already. Even organizations go a step further in capturing supplier perfomance for a couple of years and plough in that analytics into the sourcing event to arrive at the supplier metrics before awarding the contract. The number of factors that decide the price and the supplier are more than a few? This makes the problem li'l hard to solve and heuristics is the only way to solve these issues coupled with the expertise and the custom way of negotiation depending on the commodity negotiated. Mutual trust too plays an important role.

David,
Thank you for posting this article, I enjoyed reading it as I have also enjoyed reading your regular postings. The article touched on a recent pain point our team has gone through recently with inaccurate volume projections. And I will be sure to carry the article's advice on auction scheduling to coincide with commodity supply to all of my future meetings!
Take care
