AMR Supply Chain Executive Conference

May 28th, 2008 at 06:34am David Bush - Iasta

Today, I am on my way to Phoenix to attend the annual AMR conference. I hear its been in 108 range this month, and coming from the Midwest, where it has been unseasonably cool and wet this May, I am excited about some real heat. Tonight, AMR will be announcing the winners of the 2008 Top 25 Supply Chains. Last year, the “winner” was Nokia. Although, the fact is, that all 25 are winners and showing the excellence needed for recognition like this. I am going to call my shot now and take a dark horse to win this year…Cisco Systems. Its not because Cisco has a corporate blog, that I chose them. My prediction is much more certain than that, and is because the SVP of Global Supply Chain Management is the first main stage presenter the next morning. Seems pretty convenient to me…

Check out the agenda, there are many advanced topics in relation to supply chain. I will be learning things, from merely being near some of these people and absorbing their knowledge through osmosis. I will also be sitting in on many presentations and discussion forums, which will likely help, as well.

This conference is very different from that of ISM, in my opinion. I am very interested to see how it compares, as the size of the event is very similar (~2000). Also, I would really like to know other people that are attending. I always meet new people at these conferences that are familiar with me and Iasta because of E-Sourcing Forum. If you are there and catch my name tag, please grab me, I love getting feedback about improving this blog.
